Role overview
We are looking for an experienced prplOS Software Developer with a strong background in Telecommunications and Broadband Gateway Software Development. The candidate should have hands-on experience with prplOS, embedded Linux platforms, broadband device software stacks, and networking protocols used in carrier-grade customer premises equipment (CPE), routers, and gateways.
The role involves developing, integrating, customizing, debugging, and maintaining prplOS-based solutions for telecom and networking products.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop, customize, and maintain software components on prplOS-based platforms.
- Work on broadband gateway software for routers, access points, and telecom CPE devices.
- Integrate and customize networking stacks, middleware, and platform services within prplOS.
- Develop and debug embedded Linux applications and system services.
- Work on TR-181/TR-369 (USP), OpenWrt, and carrier-grade device management frameworks.
- Collaborate with BSP, platform, cloud, and application teams for feature integration.
- Troubleshoot system-level issues related to networking, Wi-Fi, performance, boot-up, memory, and security.
- Implement and optimize telecom networking protocols and services.
- Participate in software architecture discussions, code reviews, unit testing, and release activities.
- Support CI/CD pipelines, automated builds, and deployment processes.
- Work closely with customers and cross-functional teams for feature delivery and issue resolution.
Required Skills
- Strong hands-on experience with prplOS.
- Good understanding of OpenWrt architecture.
- Strong programming skills in C/C++.
- Experience with Embedded Linux development.
- Knowledge of Linux system programming, IPC, multithreading, and socket programming.
- Strong understanding of telecom and networking concepts including TCP/IP, Routing & Switching, DHCP/DNS, VLAN, NAT, Firewall, IPv4/IPv6, and QoS.
- Experience with Wi-Fi technologies and broadband gateway software.
- Experience with build systems such as Yocto, Buildroot, and OpenWrt build framework.
- Experience with Git, CI/CD pipelines, and debugging tools.
- Strong debugging and troubleshooting skills on embedded platforms.
Preferred Skills
- Experience with Broadband Forum standards.
- Knowledge of containerization technologies on embedded platforms.
- Familiarity with RDK-B, EasyMesh, or Wi-Fi mesh solutions.
- Exposure to cloud connectivity and remote device management.
- Experience working with telecom OEMs, ISPs, or networking product companies.
- Understanding of secure boot, firmware upgrade mechanisms, and system security.
Good to Have
- Experience in Agile/Scrum development environment.
