Designation: Lead Test Engineer (BACnet)

Roles and Responsibilities:
- Lead testing and validation of BACnet protocol implementations (BACnet/IP, BACnet MS/TP, BACnet/SC) across controllers, gateways, and BMS software applications
- Experience: – 3-5 years with B.E -Instrumentation/Electronics/E&TC/Computer Science or equivalent
- Design, develop, and execute test plans, test cases, and test scenarios aligned with BACnet standards and product requirements
- Perform conformance, interoperability, regression, and system-level testing for building automation devices and solutions
- Validate support for BACnet object types, services, profiles, and BIBBs as per ASHRAE standards
- Analyze protocol communication using network and BACnet protocol analyzers, identify defects, and perform root cause analysis
- Collaborate with firmware, software, and system engineers to resolve protocol, integration, and performance issues
- Verify compliance with BACnet Testing Laboratory (BTL) requirements and support BTL certification and audits
- Automate test scenarios where applicable to improve test efficiency and coverage
- Provide technical guidance and mentoring to junior test engineers on BACnet and BMS concepts
- Prepare and maintain test reports, defect documentation, and compliance matrices
- Participate in design and requirement reviews to ensure testability and standards compliance early in the development lifecycle
- Customer & Stakeholder Interaction: Participate in technical discussions with clients for test scope, compliance requirements, and issue resolution.
- Support certification processes and third-party interoperability testing.
Mandatory Technical Skills:
- BACnet Protocol Expertise
- Deep understanding of BACnet objects, services, and device profiles.
- Experience with BACnet testing tools (e.g., BACnet Test Lab, Wireshark for packet analysis).
- HVAC Domain Knowledge
- Strong grasp of HVAC systems, control sequences, and integration with BMS.
- Familiarity with common HVAC equipment (chillers, AHUs, VAVs, etc.).
- Testing & QA Skills
- Manual and automated testing experience.
- Proficiency in test management tools (JIRA, TestRail) and scripting languages (Python preferred).
- Networking Fundamentals
- Knowledge of IP networking, serial communication, and device connectivity.
Added Advantage:
- Experience with Modbus, KNX, or LonWorks for multi-protocol environments.
- Exposure to Selenium, Robot Framework, or custom automation for embedded systems.
- Understanding of IoT platforms and cloud-based BMS solutions.
- ASHRAE BACnet certification or HVAC-related certifications.
- ISTQB or equivalent QA certifications.
- Good interpersonal and communication skills. Communicate effectively both in written and oral English.
- Self-motivated, innovative, willing to pursue new technical areas and capable of working independently.
